General: Windows shall be of aluminum and high quality, as manufactured by Midwest Window and Door Corporation, Springfield, Missouri, 65802. Storm windows are available in a side slider, single hung or picture window style. Storm windows can be mounted overlap or blindstop depending on the series you order. Always give the opening size by WIDTH first when ordering your window. Custom sizes are available. Storm windows are not recommended to be used on porch enclosures.
Materials: Windows shall be extruded from 6063-T5 aluminum alloy with nominal wall thickness of .050. Screws or other fastening devices shall be of aluminum, stainless steel, or other non-corrosive materials. All weather stripping shall be virgin vinyl or dense silicone treated pile.
Glass: Glazing shall be SSB, DSB, tempered, or acrylic glazing, using a wrap-around, marine or drop-in type glazing of virgin vinyl.
Inserts: All inserts shall be self-contained and held in window frame with latches and easily removable without any tools.
Finish: Windows shall be either natural mill finish or pre-finished white, bronze, hunter green, black or sandstone. All exposed surfaces of all aluminum members shall be clean and free from serious surface blemishes. Painting shall be accomplished with an electrostatic process using a polyester baked enamel finish.
Construction: Main frame is mechanically joined with screws. All inserts are removable from the inside except for picture windows, for easy cleaning. Windows are available with or without prepunched holes. Windows are provided with installation screws.
Hardware: Windows are constructed with industrial nylon corners and latches and die-cast metal corners and latches.
Screen: Screen cloth shall be fiberglass or 18 x 16 mesh aluminum, woven with .011 wire or equivalent, and held in place by removable vinyl spline.
